It is great to see some of the fantastic work developed as a result of the clinical audit and guideline development programme. Management of delirium was one of the topics in the 2016/2017 audit cycle and we know that delirium can be very frightening for patients and those important to them. Of course face to face communication with explanations and advice is going to be the first priority but having written information to share can be incredibly useful. The team at Willowbrook Hospice in Prescot, Merseyside have developed a patient and carer information leaflet which can be adapted for local use. It gives very helpful information on how delirium presents, what assessments are required and different simple management strategies that can make a difference. Have a look and consider whether it could be something to use in your team or organisation. You will find it in the Clinical Standards and Guidelines pages alongside other resources in the Delirium section
