I have found the audit and guideline development process extremely useful, both clinically and academically. The process of conducting regional audits through training has enhanced my management and leadership skills as well as honing existing skills of conducting systematic literature reviews. Clinically I find the guidelines very relevant in managing complex situations and also helpful in guiding conversations with patients and those important to them. They are also a very useful resource to signpost to other professionals in order to support the advice we give.
