Provisional Guideline on the Management of Strong Opioid Substitution now available

We are delighted to publish the provisional  Guideline for the Management of Strong Opioid Substitution here on the Pallaborative North West website.

As we have mentioned previously in our posts, the past 18 months has really affected the availability of colleagues across the country to help us with our external peer review process. We are hoping this will now improve and have decided that in the meantime we should publish the provisional guideline for people to access and use.

A really big thank you to all the members of the Guideline Development Group, as this topic has proved exceptionally challenging in many ways. A special thank you must go to Dr Rachel McDonald for her commitment and perseverance in getting this guidance over the line. Many other colleagues have also helped with checks on all of the equi-analgesic tables so we would also like to thank them as well.

Once the guideline has been externally peer reviewed we will add the NICE accreditation logo as it will then meet all the necessary criteria.

As soon as we have the final version ready we will post the news on this website. In the meantime we hope that you find this new draft guideline really useful in your clinical practice. Do let us know what you think- we would love to get your feedback.
