We are delighted to share with you the publication of our latest NICE accredited guideline:Transfusion of red blood cells in patients with advanced cancer receiving palliative care . Congratulations to the Guideline Development Group for all their hard work in putting these together
This can be a very tricky area particularly more recently with increasing discussion about transfusion thresholds and restrictive policies. The new guideline gives some very useful advice about transfusion – when to start and when to stop. There is advice about the use of erythropoiesis- stimulating agents and some great information and links for managing acute transfusion reactions. A Quick Reference Summary will be available within the next few days.
Please do share the information with colleagues and we look forward to hearing your feedback
